| All biology majors are encouraged to complete a research
project (Biology 451) during their senior year. This is your chance
to try your hand at doing science and to experience the fun (and the
frustration) of scientific investigation. You will find that experiments
often don't go as planned, but the ones that go awry will often provide
you with valuable insights and new questions to answer. During the advising
period in the spring semester of your junior year, you will receive
information from the biology faculty about the kinds of projects we
will be supervising. Come talk with us, and then discuss your
preferences with your advisor.
Research students present their work at a departmental symposium that is open to the entire college community, and write a major paper in the format of one of the primary journals in the appropriate field. |
