Dates & Deadlines

You are responsible for knowing and observing the following deadlines throughout the year:

Adding or Deleting Courses
Advising and Registration
Deadlines for Course Work
Deadlines for Senior Research
Deadlines for Honors Research

Adding or Deleting Courses

LAST DAY TO ADD A CLASS: Eighth class day after the beginning of the semester. Even at this time, you will have some major catching up to do if you begin a new course! It is clearly to your advantage to begin a class at the beginning, so if you think you might want to take a course, even if you’re unsure, go ahead and register for it right away. It is much easier on you to drop a course than to add one.

Last day to register for Special, Directed, or Independent Study: End of two full weeks from the beginning of the semester.

Last day to drop a class: The 20th class day after the beginning of the semester. Remember, you must officially drop a class, you can’t just stop attending it!

Last day to withdraw from a class: Four weeks before the end of classes.

Last day to drop a class under the Potential Credit option: One week before the end of classes.

Phys Ed courses may have deadlines in the middle of the semester for adding and dropping.

Advising and Registration

The Registrar sends out notices of deadlines for each registration period. Be sure to sign up early for an advising session with your advisor.

Deadlines for Course Work

Dates of tests, due dates for papers, and other deadlines will be indicated on the syllabus for each of your courses.

Deadlines for Senior Research

Final draft of your paper is due to your instructor by 5:00 p.m., the last day of classes.

Oral presentation is usually scheduled one or two weeks before classes end.

Clean up lab space by the last day of classes.

Deadlines for Honors Research

 In the Senior year:

Register for SENIOR RESEARCH (Biol 451) during the Spring registration period of your junior year.
